Children of Artemis Gathering 2008

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

I had the pleasure of attending the Children of Artemis (COA) Gathering, in Oxfordshire last weekend, and had to say I had the most fantastic time there!!! The camp, organised by COA leaders, was a family orientated, animal friendly, 3- day camp. The focus of the event was to bring Witchcraft to people who are interested in following the path, in a relaxed and informative environment.

The whole event was well organised, and well thought out (the main events and music situated well away from the camp pitches!!) I got there with 2 friends on the Friday night, and found a great camp spot next to a friend who we had not seen for ages! The first night was spent getting our bearings and relaxing listening to music.

On the Saturday, we had the chance of a lifetime……….to meet and greet 3 Wolves!!! The UK Wolf Conservation Trust, gave us the honour of meeting and stroking these beautiful animals up close!!! I thouroughly enjoyed this (as i must have been up at the enclosure at least 10 times!!!), and was by far the highlight of my weekend. The rest of the Saturday was taken up by a very interesting talk by a chap who had been practicing Witchcraft for 32 years, herb workshops, Kate West, medieval reinactments, birds of prey, music and dancing, leading up to the burning of the patron Goddess of the event……….Artemis!!! The only thing was the rubbish weather on the Saturday, but it never dampend our spirits!

There were many stalls there to sell Witchy items to anyone who required them. The food, bar and catering staff were exemplary. The whole weekend was a joy, and I definatley recommend it to anyone who likes camping. I will be back next year!! A huge thanks to Dave, who organised the event (poor man was knackered by the end!), but it paid off as all of us had a ball!!! Blessings Dave and thankyou!! BB to all Jo xx (FFI on COA events: Children of Artemis Website)

Next COA event: London 8th November 2008.
